Singapore:
shining contrasts
Singapore
is our first step into Asia. A nice transition from one continent to
another, a slow slip into Asia's cultural differences, helped by the
warm welcome of our friends Arya and Fabien.
We
enjoy being back in Asia, rediscovering its culture, history and uniforms...
and we also enjoy being back to a party's atmosphere!

Singapore
seems to us as a city full of contrasts. On one side, Buddhist and Hindu
temples, on the other, the huge buildings of the business district.
From a pedestrian way built with an ancient-look alike roof, we walk
into an avenue crowded with modern cars.
Passing
through a quiet temple, we arrive into a giant shopping mall. An ancient
cloister has been transformed and is now the place to be in this area,
full with bars and trendy restaurants. Modernity seems to be always
mixed with tradition, and always respecting history.

From
the colored tiny houses and shops in Chinatown to the touristy restaurants
near the Singapore River ; from trendy bars crowded with Expats and
Singaporeans to Orchard Road, Singapore's consumerist nirvana... and
Little India, where everything reminds to the country : flavors, colors,
temples, shops, Bollywood movies shown outdoors, Indians (with
moustaches only) meeting in the streets on Sundays to discuss... We
are always surprised, caught up by this unique melting pot and diversity.
